Swadhyaya (self-study)
Swadhyaya (self-study) was the topic of the evening’s talk and meditation. The Satsang marked Makara Sankranti, the day when the Earth changes direction in its elliptical path around the Sun. It is the beginning of the period, known as Devāyana, when the days are getting longer and the Sun seems to be on its path towards the light. This six-month period (14 Jan – 14 July) is considered to be highly favorable for doing intensive yoga practice.

Makara Śankranti : Pongal
Watch the recording of the Satsang which took place on Sun eve, 14 Jan 2024 in honour of Makara Sankranti, the day when the earth changes direction in its elliptical path around the Sun. This is the start of a 6-month period known as Devayana, the path towards the light, a period that yogis believe to be hightly favourable for doing intensive practice.
In South India, the day is celebrated a Pongal, a name which literally means “to boil over with happiness, prosperity and success”. This is the official culmination of the pilgriage season, the day whn the outer journey gives say to the inner search, known to yogis as ‘swadhyaya’ (self-study).
